Respect, Where Has It Gone?

Proverbs 13:13   He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded

James 1:19-20   My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

Too many time, especially among young adults and teenagers, there is a complete lack of respect. Sometimes its directed at parents, sometimes at teachers, sometimes its towards religious leaders, whatever it is directed at, a lack of respect is never justified.

God wants us to do everything like it would be unto Him. So if we disrespect our parents by not doing the dishes when asked it’s like we are disrespecting God. He puts people in our lives that have authority over us and we are called to listen to them and respect them. We may not always like it, and sometimes the people in authority may make mistakes that affect us, but to disrespect them is uncalled for. There is a way to respect someone and correct them and let them know what you think without losing your temper at the people with authority over you.
