Loose-Lipped

James 3 “7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”

The tongue is such a small part of the body yet often has the greatest influence. Just like a wildfire starts with just a little spark the tongue can cause much trouble because of a simple word that was thoughtlessly spoken.

James says the tongue ‘is a restless evil, full of deadly poison’ because the words you speak can poison your body. The words you speak are just like a wildfire, they will consume your body and either destroy you or lift you up. If you sing praises to God from the depth of your heart, the words will bless you and your body. If you sing praises God from a hypocritical standpoint the words will poison your body and curse you. Make sure your heart is right and your words will be right.
