When I was reading the devotion from Erwin McManus’s book Wide Awake: The Future Is Waiting Within You I couldn’t help but think of Pocahontas. Well, the children’s Disney version of it.
“What I love most about rivers is:
You can’t step in the same river twice
The water’s always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can’t live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What’s around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend”
The question is, do we chose the smoothest course, steady as a beating drum? Or do we chose the winding, turbulent course? The question is, are we willing to step out of the comfort zone we have and take the more dangerous but more fulfilling course?
